This year halloween falls on a Saturday, so lets take advantage of that.
We will be giving out party bags to everyone in fancy dress, in addition to other prizes such a cairn o mohr wine.
No theme for the fancy dress, as I'm sure people will have other places to go later, marks will be given for effort and individuality!

It's the festive period once again, which means late opening!
So as of Friday the 19th of Dec we will be open until 2.45am!! This lasts until the 3rd of Jan, so take advantage.
We will be open christmas day until 12.45am and all day boxing day. Remember christmas dinner is available, but places are limited.......or just come along for a drink you know, you'll need one!
Anyway today is the 5th anniversary of the Auld Hoose, its been a interesting year for us, but we made it. I want to thank all our customers for their support, especially through the rough times, your help and concern was genuinely appreciated.
Also, a big cheers to all the staff, past and present, who I would be lost without. Ta for all the nagging, badgering and most of all a f-ing good job.
So i hope everyone has a good time, whatever your up to and best wishes for the new year.

For those of you who don't know we are open every Christmas Day, so if you are in Edinburgh this Christmas it would be lovely to see you.
We are now taking bookings for Christmas dinner, places are limited so let us know asap. See menu below.
If you already have dinner plans we will be serving drinks until late evening, so why not get out of the house for a pint and a dram?

A BIG cheers to everybody that helped this weekend, not just by being in the pub, but all comments are great as well, good or bad. We had a really good weekend and the support is honestly appreciated, times are hard for a lot of us at the moment, so once again thanks.
I ment to post this a lot sooner, but i've been running around daft, and thats not a complaint! Being too busy to play with my laptop while behind the bar is great!
Unfortunatly, one busy weekend will not be enough to solve all the pubs problems (although it was nice not to have the bank on my back today). Please continue to support the Auld Hoose, and let us know what you want, the pub we want is one that everyone can enjoy.
The next month isn't going to be easy, but if we keep going until the festival, that should be a boost!
I realise that this level of honesty is a bit unsual for businesses, but the Auld Hoose isn't run to make some MD a big profit, we're a small business, all the staff work hard to provide a good pub, that we all want to drink in and enjoy.
One last time, thanks again folks, keep it up, let us know if there is anything we could do better and finally a big thanks to all the staff, without their support I'd be utterly fucked!

| Honesty and begging |

Hey up folks,
I've been putting off writing this for a while, but then comes the time to swallow your pride and beg.
As everybody will be painfully aware the cost of everything is going through the roof, our costs have gone up considerably, not just on the obvious things. We have put the prices up to reflect this, but it isn't enough, the Auld Hoose is in the shit!
(For a longer rant about breweries, power companies, water rates, council tax........etc, I'll be in the pub)
Anyhow we have had a few ups and downs over the last four and a half years, but its always worked out in the end. We've all worked hard to build a pub that we enjoy and hope you do to. And the last thing I want to happen, is that we have to close, like so many others.
So to be brutally honest, please help us save the pub and come out for a pint this weekend.
Thanks to everyone who has supported us in the past, lets keep it going.

We are all truly sorry that due to circumstances beyond our control we have been forced to modify the jukebox.
Meatloaf & Alabama 3 HAVE GONE! They are no more and we swear that they will never ever EVER darken our doors again. We'll say this one more time: MEATLOAF & ALABAMA 3 HAVE GONE FROM THE JUKEBOX!

As most of you are aware we are one of the few pubs in Edinburgh that are actually open on Christmas Day and thus we are providing an excellent three course christmas dinner for only £20 per head. (Don't worry veggies you are catered for!) The downside is that we have a limited number that we can cook for and therefore if you want feeding you will need to come in and book now in order to avoid disapointment. Alternatively if you are being fed but are in the area pop in for a pint as we will be open til midnight at least.

We will be having the obligatory fancy dress competition and thus there will be a bottle of Sailor Jerry rum for the winner. Haven't come up with a theme this year as we are retards. However two of the suggestions we have received are: Fairy Tales Gone Grimm, Vampires & Virgins or you could just wear the same goth outfit you always wear- your choice.
If you are immature enough (or American) to still be trick or treating there will be sweeties (candy) up for grabs.
